Question 29

Do I have to use Trendful payouts?

Accepted Answer

No. Payout automation is optional, and it is the only part of Trendful that charges a transaction fee. If you pay your customers yourself, you are not charged anything. Paying customers yourself You can run your whole resale operation on Trendful (intake, quoting, shipping, inventory, your customer list) and still pay customers however you already do: your own bank, Zelle, a cheque, cash in store, or anything else. When you have paid someone, mark the offer as paid from the offer page or in bulk from the offers list. The item is recorded as paid for your records and reporting, and no fee applies. Saving how a customer wants to be paid You can store a customer's payout preference whether or not you use our automation. On the customer's profile you can record: Bank transfer (ACH) PayPal Venmo Zelle Cheque E-transfer Store credit Recording a preference never sends anything and never costs anything. It is there so your team knows how each customer expects to be paid. What automation adds Trendful can send the payout for you by ACH, PayPal or Venmo. This is opt-in. You have to set up a Trendful Wallet for ACH, or connect your PayPal business account for PayPal and Venmo, before anything can be sent. Automation is what the transaction fee pays for: your customer connects their own bank account so you never handle or store their account details, you can start a payout before they have provided anything, failed transfers are flagged and refunded automatically, and every payout is tracked and exportable for reconciliation. The other four methods above are records only. Selecting Zelle, cheque, e-transfer or store credit saves the preference; it does not send money. One limitation worth knowing If a customer connects a bank account for ACH, we never show you their account and routing numbers. That is deliberate, and it is why you are not responsible for storing them. You can see that an account is connected and verified, and the last digits, but not the full details. This means you cannot use a bank account connected through Trendful to pay someone manually from your own bank. If you intend to pay by transfer yourself, you will need to collect those details from the customer directly. PayPal and Venmo are different: the recipient email or phone is visible on the customer's profile.

Do you have a data processing agreement?

Accepted Answer

As a data controller under the GDPR, Article 28 requires that when you engage a data processor (like Trendful) to process your customers’ data, you impose strict contractual requirements on how they may use and process that data. This is typically done through a Data Processing Addendum (DPA). Trendful has automatically incorporated a Data Processing Agreement into its terms of service. For Trendful Enterprise plan clients, their Enterprise contracts will govern their relationship with Trendful. Enterprise plan clients can sign a Data Processing Addendum to address their needs. Enterprise clients who do not sign will be governed by Trendful’s online Data Processing Addendum. Questions to think about: Are there any other data processors that you work with outside of Trendful that are contractually committed to protecting your customers’ data? Are you an Enterprise plan client?

Question 38

Does photo recognition use my sellers' photos for training?

Accepted Answer

Photo recognition gets better the more items it sees. When it's turned on in your resale app, the photos sellers take while submitting a handbag may help improve it, so future sellers get faster, more accurate suggestions. Photo recognition is powered by Price Hero, a service that is part of Trendful Inc. but separate from the Trendful platform. Photos used to improve it are stored on Price Hero's infrastructure. How photos are handled Only the item photos are used. Nothing that identifies your sellers (name, email, address or account details) is stored with them. Location and device details are removed from every photo. Photos are stored privately and used only to improve photo recognition. They are never shared with other merchants and never sold. For the best results, encourage sellers to photograph just the item. Do I need to update my terms and conditions? We recommend letting your customers know. You can add this sentence to your terms and conditions: Photos you upload when submitting an item may be used by Price Hero, a photo recognition service of Trendful Inc., to improve photo recognition. They are stored privately without your personal details or location data, and are never shared or sold. Can I turn it off? Yes, anytime. Turning photo recognition off in Settings → Preferences stops new photos from being used.

How can I help a customer who can't submit an item?

Accepted Answer

There might be different reasons explaining why a customer is unable to complete a submission: If the "Email me an offer" or "Accept" button is disabled (i.e. customer can't click), it's possible that they haven't filled out all the required information. They should ensure that they have provided the following information: brand and item name, their contact information, their address, and any required images. If any of these fields are missing or incomplete, they should fill them out and try submitting their request again. If the customer's images are not uploading, it's possible that the image type is not accepted. They should ensure that they are uploading images in one of the accepted file formats, such as JPEG or PNG. If they are still having trouble uploading their images, they can try using a different file format or contact support for further assistance. If the customer is having trouble uploading their images, one of their photos may be too large: each photo can be up to 20 MB. They can resize or compress the photo, or take a new one at a lower resolution, then upload it again. If the customer encounters another error while trying to submit their request, you should contact support for further assistance. Our support team will be able to help you troubleshoot the issue and ensure that their request is successfully submitted. You should provide as much detail as possible about the error they encountered, including customer name, error messages, and screenshots if possible.

In your admin account, go to Settings → Preferences and open the Shipping tab. {/ TODO screenshot: Settings → Preferences, Shipping tab ("Shipment Settings") /} You can adjust the following shipping settings: Self-serve shipping labels: let customers create their own shipping label from the Resale App after they accept an offer. Available on Pro and Enterprise plans, for companies in the US and Canada. Preferred carrier: the carrier used for automatically generated labels. If it has no rate for a shipment, we use the cheapest rate from another carrier. See How does the preferred carrier work? Insurance options: insure every shipment, or let customers choose whether to add insurance. Insurance costs 1% of the resale value by default. Available on Pro and Enterprise plans. Expiration period: shipping labels older than this number of days (29 days max) are canceled automatically. Include packing slips and Packing slip verbiage: customers get a packing slip with their name and item details to put in the package, with an optional disclaimer for them to sign. Available on the Enterprise plan. Click Save to keep your changes.
