What does PayPal charge for payouts?
PayPal charges you its own fee on top of Trendful's commission. Your customer is never charged.
US domestic payouts
PayPal charges $0.25 per payment. Every payout sends two payments, one to your customer and one to Trendful as the commission fee, so a payout costs $0.50 in PayPal fees.
Trendful's commission is separate: 0.5% of the payout, capped by your plan.
International payouts
Paying a customer whose PayPal account is outside the United States costs considerably more. PayPal charges 2% of the payout, capped at $20, rather than $0.25.
On a $1,000 payout that is $20 instead of $0.25. If you pay customers abroad, factor this in before you send.
Your customer receives the full amount
Payouts are sent through PayPal's Payouts API, not as a Goods and Services payment. Under Goods and Services the recipient absorbs a fee of roughly 2.89% + $0.49. With payouts they absorb nothing and receive the exact amount you sent.
One exception: if your customer's PayPal account is held in another currency, PayPal converts at its own rate and the amount they see will be slightly lower.
No Purchase Protection
Because these are payouts rather than Goods and Services payments, they are not covered by PayPal Purchase Protection, and they cannot be cancelled once sent. Check the amount and the recipient before sending.
Venmo
Venmo payouts follow the same structure and the same Trendful commission. Venmo is US-only.
